Our FAQ'S

What are these Glass pillars? Is it actually Glass or Acrylic?
Yes. It is certainly Glass, molded by a special process with air bubbles and instantaneously cooled.

Are these pillars made of a Glass Box and with water and bubbles inside?
No. These are one piece Glass Pillars, and bubbles are inside of the glass through a special process. It's a solid glass and not hollow.

Are the Pillars toughened or can it be heat strengthened?
No. The Pillars are not toughened or heat strengthened.

Are the Pillars breakable?
Yes. If the Pillars are long, and falls from a height onto a hard surface, it can break. It is glass after all! But cannot break due to day to day activities or even if it is heavily punched by hand.

What is the weight of the Pillar?
Different Pillars weigh differently as per their dimensions. A 3x4" - 8ft Long Pillar weighs approximately - 40 kgs and others weigh upwards than that.

Can the Pillars be cut as per my length?
Yes. Definitely. The Pillars can be cut as per required custom length. Although there is a high risk of breakage.

What if the Pillar breaks while cutting process carried out by you?
The cutting is at the risk of Isra Glass. The customer will always get the length they had ordered.

Arent the top and bottom edges of the Pillars already straightened and polished?
Partially yes. But, the two sides (top and bottom edges) of the Pillars are never straight or uniform. While manufacturing, the solid edges are broken into the length of 8ft, and hence will have sharp uneven edges, which can be a hazard. It is always recommended that the edges be made blunt and flat, if required by the customer. This is a must if the Pillar has to be fixed in a unit, otherwise the size won’t match.

Polished pillars appear to have slightly more open bubbles (bubbles in the surface) than unpolished regular pillars? Why is that?
Polished surfaced pillars are polished after bubble formation during manufacturing. Hence, while machine polishing the surface, a thin layer of glass is scraped and smoothened and then polished for uniformity. In rare cases, this might lead to open bubbles on the surface, due to co-incidence, but are hardly visible.

Can the dimensions of 2 pillars be different?
Very rarely. But yes. It is possible. Size tolerance is +/- 5mm.

What if I only want the Pillars to be cut, and not polished? How will the edges be then?
If only cutting of the Pillar is performed, the edges of the sides will have micro broken shells / slightly chipped edges which is a natural property of glass if cut. (The unfinished edges which are usually hidden in the framework of the Pillar Unit). But the rough surface will be visible if viewed from inside the pillar, hence polishing of the surface is recommended.

What will be the light transmission if the pillars are left as it is after cutting?
Light Transmission will be reduced to 50% and shall appear dim.

What will be the light transmission if the surface of the pillar is crystal clear?
Light transmission will be 100% and appear bright and well lit.

Will broken shells of the grinded surface be visible even after polishing?
In rare cases, yes. Most of the shells are grinded and removed. But some deep ones might still be visible, since grinding them, would cause for the pillar to be shortened. But those slightly visible shells would not be visible if put inside the framework for pillar support.

Can some Air Brush painting or etching be done on the Pillar?
Yes. Any regular value addition can be carried out on the glass pillar.

Is there a light inside the Pillar? How are the bubbles lit up?
No. There is no light inside the pillar. There is a light on the top or bottom of the pillar, which points light in a vertical direction, and hence the bubbles are lit up, in whatever color light is passed through it.

Will the light affect the Pillar or bubbles in any way?
No. The Pillars and bubbles are safe, and meant to be lit up.

Is Will one light be sufficient to light up the entire pillar?
Depends on the wattage of the light bulb. Generally a single 3W LED Bulb, either on the top or bottom of the pillar, points light up to 4ft. If the Pillar is longer, then a higher wattage Bulb is required, or another 3W LED bulb is required on the other side so that the entire 8ft is lit up.

Why is my pillar looking dim even though I have used a high wattage LED Bulb?
Probably the edge of the pillars or not processed and Polished. The edge might be rough grinded, and not polished till the last stage, hence the pillar will appear dimmer.

Can the edge of the Pillar be polished crystal clear?
Yes. There is a special process to grind, smoothen and polish the edge of the Pillar for 100% transparency of light.

Is polishing of the edges required if I am not going to light up the Pillar?
Depends on choices of person to person. But the polishing of the edges make the edges uniform, straight, and gives a finished neat look to the pillar.

Can the white color of 2 pillars be different?
In rare cases, yes. Variation in color of Pillar may occur due to variation in Silica & Limestone used to manufacture glass. It is a tolerable fact, and cannot be altered. It is not a manufacturing defect, but a natural property of glass.

Why are all the bubbles inside the Pillars, not of the same size?
Variation in Bubble sizes may occur, due to the natural formation process of Bubbles during manufacturing of the Pillars. Bubble formation and size cannot be controlled and kept even at all times.

A few bubbles are on the surface of the pillar, and they are small and open. Why is that? Is it a defect?
This is due to the co-incidence during natural formation of the bubble to be near the surface, while manufacturing, and cannot be controlled. It is not a manufacturing defect.

Can size variation occur in the length due to cutting or polishing?
In rare cases, yes. Since the process is done by hand, size variation is possible. Size Tolerance +/- 15mm.

Can the Pillar stand by itself?
Small pieces can. But lengthy pieces cannot. A simple wooden, Aluminum, or Steel framework is required to hold the weight of the Pillars.

Can the Pillars be customized after the process of Polishing?
Yes. It can be shortened by cutting and polishing again, but it cannot be made longer.

Can we drill a hole through the pillars?
No. The Pillars would lose its strength. And secondly, the drill would be visible through the Pillar.

Can the Pillars be glued to another surface?
Yes. It can be glued to any other surface, and also to glass by special glue.

Can the edge of the Pillar be tapered at an angle?
Yes. The edges can be tapered to whatever degree of angle specified.

Can the Pillars be bent to a specific angle?
Yes. Pillars can be bent to any specific angle. But at present the machinery to do that kind of intricate job is not available in India yet.
